10 Years Behind Bars for this Pastor Convicted of Rape
Punta Gorda pastor Victor Hernandez has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
Hernandez who is tied to the Toledo Faith Outreach Christian Center and is a former president of the National Evangelical Association of Belize (NEAB) committed the crimes against a female member of his congregation.
He was sentenced by High Court Justice Antoinette Moore on Monday.
The rapes took place at his business and residence and the sexual assault inside his church with the victim’s teenage daughter present.
Following his 2024 arraignment, he was removed from his position as president of (NEAB).
Sentencing guidelines had set a combined total of 22 years for the offences, but Justice Moore ruled that the sentences would run at the same time, giving him a total of 10 years in prison.
Justice Moore took into account his abuse of religious trust, as well as his clean record, advanced age, and health issues, including a stroke, high blood pressure, and Type II diabetes.
