11-Year-Old Girl Injured in Belize City Shooting

An 11-year-old girl was injured in a shooting on Arlington Drive in Belize City on Sunday night, October 25. She has since been treated and released from the hospital.

Officers on patrol were alerted to gunshots after 8 p.m. on Sunday.

“Upon their arrival at a location on Arlington Drive, they were advised that an injured female was taken to the hospital for medical attention,” said ASP Stacy Smith.

Smith said the girl was socialising with four other people at a property on Arlington Drive, Belize City when a man approached and fired several shots towards the group, injuring her.

Two people have since been detained, and police have retrieved video footage to assist with the investigation.

Police are exploring two theories in the shooting, one of which is that someone else in the group may have been the intended target.

“We have two theories that we are looking at, and we suspect that one of the persons there may have been the intended target,” said ASP Stacy Smith.

The investigation is ongoing.
