14-Year-Old Student Charged for Alleged Unlawful Carnal Knowledge

A troubling case is unfolding in the capital, where a fourteen-year-old student has been taken into custody and charged with unlawful carnal knowledge. The teen is currently being held at the New Beginnings Youth Development Center. The charge stems from an incident reported last week at Belmopan Comprehensive High School. According to police, a thirteen-year-old female student came forward, alleging that the fourteen-year-old had sexual intercourse with her against her will while on the school compound. Authorities say they are taking the matter seriously and have launched a full investigation. Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith provided further details on the case, which remains under active review.

“On Thursday twenty-nineth May 2025, police formally arrested and charged a fourteen-year-old male minor of Belmopan City for the crime of unlawful carnal knowledge. This arrest came as a consequence of a report being made by a thirteen-year-old female minor that on the twenty-eight of May while on her school compound in Belmopan City the male minor had sexual intercourse with her against her will. The make minor was arraigned before the Belmopan Magistrate Court where he was remanded to new beginning facility.”
