17 Pounds of Cannabis, Firearm Seized in City Raid

Two Belize City residents are in police custody following the discovery of cannabis, a firearm, and ammunition during a search operation on Tuesday morning.

Around 10:00 a.m., law enforcement officers conducted a joint operation and executed a search warrant at a residence on Handy Side Street in the name of a 31-year-old man. Present at the time were the man and a 29-year-old woman. 

During the search, police reportedly found a green plastic bag containing eight packages of suspected cannabis weighing a total of 17 pounds. Officers also discovered a .22 revolver concealed inside a PVC pipe, along with three live .22 rounds of ammunition.

Both individuals have been detained pending charges of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply to another and keeping a firearm and ammunition without a gun license.
