Elderly Man Dies at Sea After Heart Attack: Police Report

An elderly American man died at sea this morning after reportedly suffering a heart attack, according to police report.

The Belize Rescue Team (BRT) received a report of a catamaran drifting approximately 60 miles offshore. The initial alert came from a cruise ship whose crew had rendered assistance to the man’s wife, who reported that her husband had collapsed and passed away.

BRT proceeded to the vessel found the catamaran slowly drifting toward Belizean waters. The team discovered the elderly man deceased onboard, with visible blood inside the boat.

The Coast Guard is assisting in towing the vessel to Caye Caulker Village.

Authorities have not released further details about the deceased or his wife at this time.
