Fifty-six primary schools across Belize’s six districts have received kitchen equipment and supplies through Build Belize Inc.’s 2026 “Funding Kitchens, Feeding Children” campaign.

The initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Youth, Sports and Diaspora Relations and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, provided equipment valued at approximately $100,000.

The campaign is intended to strengthen school kitchens supporting the Ministry of Education’s National Healthy Start Feeding Programme, which provides meals to thousands of children across Belize.

The distribution included refrigerators, stoves, pots, pans and other kitchen essentials. Build Belize said the donations will help schools prepare meals in safer and better-equipped facilities.

As part of the campaign, representatives from Build Belize visited 21 schools across all six districts. The visits included meetings with students, teachers, principals and school cooks.
Build Belize Chair Sandhya Murphy said the visits reinforced the importance of having properly equipped kitchens.

“Visiting the schools, meeting the children, teachers and cooks, and seeing meals being prepared and served reminded us why this work matters… It is about giving schools the tools they need to nourish children, support their ability to learn and ease some of the burden faced by families,” Murphy said.

Midway Wholesale Depot provided equipment, transportation and logistical support to deliver the donations to all 56 schools. Fabrigas Belize Ltd. also donated 37 fire extinguishers for use in school kitchens.

Build Belize said the campaign forms part of its wider work supporting education, healthcare and community services in Belize.
