66 New Rooms, Sea Views and More: Fort George Hotel Expands
There is a new reason to linger a little longer in Belize City.
Step onto the waterfront in Belize City’s Fort George neighborhood these days, and you’ll notice something new being built towards the skyline.
Fort George will be opening its doors to its new six-story Signature Sea View Tower this fall. The hotel and spa is adding 66 new guestrooms and suites, including two Signature Sea View Penthouses, nearly doubling the property to 130 rooms total.

The expansion is designed to offer more than simply additional places to sleep. It is giving travelers looking to stay, dine, relax and take in the experience of the Old Capital and Caribbean from above.
For guests, the experience begins with a new arrival area and lobby, followed by spaces designed to make the most of the hotel’s waterfront setting. Expansive windows frame views of the Caribbean Sea, while natural textures, locally inspired artwork and other details draw on Belize’s coastal landscape and culture.
The expansion also introduces a new waterfront swimming pool, which complements the hotel’s existing Courtyard Plunge Pool, along with a retail boutique and additional indoor and outdoor spaces for gathering.

And what’s a vacation without good food and drinks?
Fort George is also boasting a new Mediterranean-inspired restaurant that will join the property, while an all-day lobby bar and specialty coffee concept will transition into an evening cocktail destination. A perfect combination for guests to start the morning or settle in after a day of exploring.
For travelers combining business with their Belize experience, the new tower will add approximately 4,500 square feet of meeting and event space. That includes a 1,300-square-foot meeting room, an 800-square-foot meeting deck and a 2,400-square-foot fourth-floor venue overlooking Belize City and the Caribbean Sea.
It’s the kind of backdrop that makes a work trip feel a little less like work.

The new spaces will complement the hotel’s existing Treehouse Restaurant, SeaViche Bar, K’IN Spa, BurnBox Gym and meeting facilities.
For vacationers, the location remains part of the appeal. Set in Belize City’s historic Fort George neighbourhood, the hotel puts guests close to the city’s history, culture and waterfront while providing a base for exploring the wider country.
Travelers can venture out to the Belize Barrier Reef, ancient Maya sites, rainforest destinations and communities beyond the city before returning to the waterfront to unwind.
“This expansion represents one of the most significant milestones in Fort George’s history,” said Scott McArdle, vice president of hospitality at Fort George Hotel & Spa. “Our vision has never been simply to add more guestrooms. We’re building on Fort George’s legacy while creating new ways for travelers to experience the culture, character and hospitality of Belize City as an essential part of their Belize journey.”
