$80,000 in Motorcycles, Equipment Donated to Agriculture Ministry
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries today received a major boost with the donation of motorcycles and computer equipment valued at over $80,000.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) provided six motorcycles and computer systems to strengthen the Ministry’s operational capacity. The contribution follows earlier donations of drones, cell phones, and a utility terrain vehicle, all aimed at improving data collection and management for agricultural programmes.
Meanwhile, the International Regional Plant and Animal Health Organization (OIRSA) donated six additional motorcycles to support the Ministry’s Screwworm Eradication Program, which safeguards livestock health and productivity. OIRSA has previously provided medicines and equipment for the initiative.
The new equipment will help extension officers reach farmers in remote areas across the country, improve data collection, and make fieldwork more efficient.
