Police have detained one person as they investigate a stabbing incident that left an 88-year-old man hospitalized in the Orange Walk District.

The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, while Gabriel Teck of Yo Creek Village was working on a farm with another man known only as “Negro Lopez”. According to investigators, Lopez accused Teck of eating his groceries before attacking him with a farm fork.

Authorities note that Teck’s survival was remarkable given his age and the nature of the attack. “Teck managed to remove the fork from his chest and walked toward the main road,” police reported.

He was admitted to the Northern Regional Hospital in stable condition.
