Belize Pushes People-Centered Policies Across Region

Belize is now leading a key regional social development body. The Ministry of Human Development says Belize has assumed the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Council of Social Integration under SICA for the July to December 2026 term. Minister Thea Garcia-Ramirez will lead the six-month presidency, taking over from the Dominican Republic. During its term, Belize will push regional action on stronger social protection, better care systems for children, older persons, persons with disabilities and families, and more humane approaches to migration and reintegration. The ministry says Belize will work with SICA member states, SISCA, development partners and civil society to promote policies that put people at the center of regional development.
