No Endorsement from Musa Ahead of PUP Convention

Caribbean Shores Area Representative Kareem Musa is staying neutral in the upcoming PUP Belize City municipal convention, and he says that is exactly how the process should work. With Allan Pollard and Eluide Miller both vying for the mayoral candidacy, Musa says delegates must be free to make their own choice without pressure from elected officials. But whoever emerges victorious, he says, will have his full support. And for Musa, even the candidate who falls short should be recognized for stepping forward in the interest of the party.

“I support a gentleman by the name of Kirkland Smith. He comes out of Caribbean Shores, a career educator. I fully support and endorse him. I have answer3ed this question as it comes to Eluide and Allan. I think these are two of our very best young people. Very impressive in terms of all they have done and achieved in their young political lives and as I said on the last occasion, we in Caribbean Shores will leave it up to the delegates. This is a democratic process and I will not impress on the delegates, any of them, on who I think that they should vote for. My focus will be two fold. I consider myself to be somewhat senior in the party. After the convention, my role is to propel whoever is victorious to become the next mayor of the city, to do my part. And to celebrate the person that loses, uplift them, encourage them, because I think whoever loses has a lot to still offer in politics.”

 

Municipal elections are set to be held in March 2026.
