Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing Into Lamp Post Near KHMH
An early morning ride home on a familiar stretch of road near the national referral hospital on Princess Margaret Drive ended in tragedy for thirty-one-year-old security guard David Lucas. He was riding his black Lifan motorcycle on Coney Drive and while turning right into Princess Margaret Drive an eyewitness says he appeared to become distracted. Within seconds, Lucas lost control and slammed into a metal lamp post in the median. The collision threw him from the motorcycle and knocked off his helmet. He suffered severe head injuries. Help came almost immediately, with personnel from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and the Belize Center for the Visually Impaired rushing to his aid and taking him inside the hospital. Sadly, Lucas did not survive. Family members and close friends remain devastated as they come to terms with the tragedy. Many were blindsided by the news, learning of the incident only after graphic images appeared on social media news pages, compounding their grief and anguish. David Lucas is being remembered by loved ones as a fun-loving guy who loved to crack jokes and make those around him laugh.
