Friend Discovers Body of Pregnant Belize City Woman 

Twenty-two-year-old Kimane Garbutt was found dead in a decomposed state inside a Vernon Street residence in Belize City on Sunday morning, police confirmed during this afternoon’s press briefing. 

Police added that the body of Garbutt is currently awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

According to police, Garbutt’s body was discovered shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Sunday after a friend went to check on her. Garbut was reportedly last seen alive around 7:00am the previous day, when she told the friend she wasn’t feeling well.

When calls to Garbutt went unanswered, the friend entered the apartment building and made the discovery, then alerted police.

Smith said investigators do not currently suspect foul play.
