5-Year-Old Caught in Crossfire in San Ignacio
A five-year-old boy was shot while walking home with his mother, in an attack that appears to have targeted someone else entirely.
According to police, officers responded to reports of gunfire on Collins Boulevard, San Ignacio Town, at around 7:40 p.m. Officers arrived to find 30-year-old Carlton McKoy on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators say McKoy had driven onto Collins Boulevard when occupants of a parked vehicle opened fire on his vehicle.
The child, who was walking home with his mother along Bullet Tree Road, was struck during the shooting.
Both McKoy and the boy were taken to hospital. The child was later transferred to KHMH for further treatment.
According to the police, “Both victims are listed in stable condition.”
