Violent Highway Crash Leaves Zabaneh Injured but Alive

It was a crash that could have easily turned fatal. On Monday, Emil Zabaneh was flung from his vehicle after another driver reportedly clipped him near the Haulover Bridge on the Philip Goldson Highway. His vehicle flipped several times before he ended up unconscious, hanging from the roof of the wreckage. But tonight, there is relief for his family. Despite suffering a deep cut to the head, doctors say a CT scan found no major injuries. News Five spoke by phone with Emil’s father, Emilio Zabaneh, who gave us an update on his son’s recovery.

“My son is doing good. He is recovering in the hospital. He has a gash on the back of his head. The CT scan shows a fracture type of hairline crack in one of his lower spine bones, but doctors say in time it shouldn’t affect him and with bed rest he should heal up. He is walking and fine. He is trying to remember as much as he can, but some of it he can’t remember. He recollects seeing this vehicle pulling out of the gas station and trying to get across the road almost obstructing the other cars in front. He thought the car stopped and when he realized the vehicle pulled out he tried to avoid a head on collision and swerved into the left, almost into the other traffic. Thankfully there was none, but the vehicle pulled out and knocked him somewhere towards the passenger door and somewhere behind the vehicle which caused him to turn cross way in the road and that is what caused it.”
