Criminals Target Two Businesses in Belize City

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at Mahogany Supermarket on Mahogany Street in Belize City this afternoon.

Initial reports indicate that a suspect attempted to rob the Belizean-owned business, which belongs to businessman Wallace Usher. During the incident, the suspect was reportedly shot at before fleeing the scene. It remains unclear whether he was injured.

Police are expected to provide more information as the investigation continues.

The Mahogany Supermarket’s attempted robbery comes just hours after another reported crime targeted a separate Belize City business. Surveillance footage shared by Belize Local Deals captured four men breaking into the store. According to owner Louis Thompson, the burglars stole several electronic devices and other merchandise before escaping.

Police are urging anyone with information on either incident to contact the nearest police station.
