Flood Alert Issued for Southern Toledo 

Residents in southern Belize are being urged to remain alert as forecasters warn that flooding remains possible over the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours due to continued nighttime and early morning rainfall. 

In its latest flood forecast issued at noon today, the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Solid Waste Management said most rivers across the country remain at normal or below-normal levels. However, several waterways in southern Belize continue to run above normal. 

The Moho River remains above normal levels and has reached flood stage at Blue Creek South, where water is above bridge level. The Temash River, Sittee River, and Gales Point Lagoon are also running above normal levels. The Rio Grande and Sarstoon River remain below normal.

The Rio Hondo, New River, Belize River, Sibun River, Mopan River and Macal River are all at or below normal levels, with no immediate flood concerns reported.

Authorities are advising residents to stay informed through official updates and remain prepared should conditions worsen.
