Hydro Belize Distributes School Supplies to 120 Students

Hydro Belize Limited distributed school bags and supplies to 120 primary school students from communities along the Macal River on Monday, part of the company’s annual back-to-school outreach.

The students, ages five to twelve, were selected from six schools: Holy Cross R.C. School in Calla Creek, Cristo Rey R.C. School, Immaculate Conception RC Primary School in Bullet Tree Falls, Faith Nazarene Primary School in San Ignacio, Santa Familia R.C. School, and Santa Elena Primary School. Each school identified twenty students to take part.

The event was held at Hydro Belize’s headquarters in San Ignacio and included a safety presentation and brief remarks from company executives, in addition to the distribution of bags and supplies. VP Finance and CFO Yaksim Betty Tam Moreno and VP Operations Jose Riveroll both took part in the distribution alongside Hydro Belize staff.

In a statement, Tam Moreno said the company hopes the initiative helps students start the school year prepared and motivated. “Supporting education and our young people remains an important part of how Hydro Belize contributes to the communities we serve,” she said.

The giveaway is tied to Hydro Belize’s broader community engagement efforts in the Macal River region, where the company operates three hydroelectric facilities: the 25-megawatt Mollejon facility, the 7.3-megawatt Chalillo facility, and the 19-megawatt Vaca facility. The company generates power delivered to Belize Electricity Limited under agreements with the Government of Belize.
