Public Access Preserved at Caye Caulker’s Split

Amid growing concern from ferry operators over reports of proposed fees near The Split, the Caye Caulker Village Council says one thing is clear: public access is not changing. Following a high-level meeting, officials reaffirmed that the public street, the sixty-six-foot reserve, and other designated public areas around The Split remain open and accessible. While discussions continue on how best to organize ferry operations in the area, village leaders say ferry services will continue as normal and are pledging to find a solution that protects public access while supporting businesses and transportation on the island.
