U.S. Ambassador Charts New Course with Belize

Belize–United States relations are entering a new chapter following the swearing-in of André Bauer as U.S. Ambassador to Belize. Bauer announced the development in a social media post, saying South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson administered the oath of office. The ceremony took place with Bauer’s wife at his side. The newly sworn-in ambassador thanked President Donald Trump for placing confidence in him and giving him the opportunity to represent the United States in Belize. Bauer also credited his family, friends and supporters for helping him reach the diplomatic post. But beyond the ceremony and personal acknowledgements, Bauer is already outlining his central mission. He says he intends to strengthen the longstanding friendship between Belize and the United States while serving with humility, dedication and purpose.  The swearing-in formally clears the way for Bauer to begin his diplomatic assignment and places renewed attention on how the United States will engage Belize under his leadership.
