Three City Men Arrested for Independence Robbery

Police say two armed men stormed an Independence store on Saturday afternoon, robbed the owner and fled in a waiting vehicle. But their escape did not last long. Investigators followed leads, intercepted the vehicle and detained three Belize City men. Dorian Garnett, Krishna Flores and Anthony Smith are now jointly charged with robbery. ASP Stacy Smith explains how police tracked them down.

“Police have formally arrested and jointly charged Dorian Garnett, thirty-six years of age, Krishna Flores, thirty-five years of age and Anthony Smith, forty-two years of age, all of Belize City, for the crime of robbery. The charge follows police investigation into the robbery of Wendy’s store, which is located in Independence Village, which occurred on Saturday, 22nd August at approximately 2:30 PM. The investigation has so far disclosed that two male persons entered that establishment, one of whom was armed with a firearm, whereby they made demands of the store owner. The male persons took items of belonging to the store owner and made good their escape. The department was aware of this report and the information in relation to the identity of the suspects was communicated. As a consequence of this, a vehicle was intercepted whereby all three persons were found on board and were subsequently charged.”
