Belize, Taiwan Sign $3 Million Deal to Support Women and Youth-Owned Businesses

Belize and Taiwan have signed a new agreement worth roughly three million U.S. dollars aimed at strengthening micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises across the country, with a particular focus on women and young entrepreneurs.

The Belize Women and Youth MSMEs Development Project will be jointly implemented by the government and the Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize.

The initiative builds on a previous cooperation project between the two countries that supported roughly 2,000 women and more than a hundred start-ups. Under the new agreement, entrepreneurs will receive targeted training, business guidance, and support aimed at strengthening their operations, improving access to markets, creating jobs, and achieving long-term sustainable growth.

The government described the project as an important step toward building a stronger, more inclusive, and more resilient economy.
