Police Believe Cayo Shooting Linked to Drugs  

And Cayo Police are also investigating a shooting that injured a minor almost a month ago. According to reports, gunmen were targeting Carlton Mckoy when they shot and injured a five-year-old minor.

“On third August, 2026 at approximately seven forty p.m., police responded to a shooting incident on Collins Boulevard in San Ignacio Town, which resulted in the shooting injury of thirty-year-old Carlton McCoy and the injury of five-year-old, a five-year-old male minor. The investigation has indicated that Mr. McCoy, who is known to police, was the intended target and he reported that he had left from a business establishment and upon passing a parked vehicle on Collins Boulevard, he observed that the back glass of that vehicle was lowered and upon looking in that direction, a male person therein fired several shots in his direction, injuring him.”
