Police Charge Two Suspects in Deadly Santa Elena Shooting

Police have charged two men in connection with the murders of Rasheed Hyde and Gil Pineda in Santa Elena. Earlier today, investigators formally arrested and charged twenty-five-year-old bartender Chris Anthony Veliz of Santa Elena and twenty-five-year-old laborer Roberto Vidal May with murder. Hyde, thirty-five, and Pineda, thirty-six, were shot on Saturday, while standing near a residence on George Price Avenue. Police reported that the gunmen opened fire from a Nissan Rogue. Hyde died shortly after the shooting, while Pineda succumbed to his injuries the following day. Investigators had detained two men and impounded a vehicle of interest shortly after the deadly attack. Police have not publicly disclosed any evidence allegedly linking Veliz and May to the double murder or confirmed a motive.
