Oscar Mira has been noticeably back in the public eye, appearing at several events over the past few days. His renewed visibility is now raising questions about whether the Belmopan Area Representative is positioning himself for a return to Cabinet. We put that question directly to Prime Minister John Briceño today, and he explained where he stands on Mira’s political comeback.

“I think we kind of jumping ahead of the time. Oscar Mira continues to be an area representative. He continues to represent the people of Belmopan and I welcome to confer him to be able to work in Belmopan and for our government.”

“I think he is here as an area representative. We invited all area representatives to come here. I should be in Cabinet right now. I am already an hour late. Cabinet secretary will have a heart attack because I am still out here and I need to get back and I have my colleagues waiting in Belmopan.”

 

The Office of the Auditor General is pressing ahead with its investigation into the Ministry of Defense’s finances, with auditors now interviewing relevant individuals.
