Education Ministry Reviews Louisiana School’s Audit Findings

Months after thousands of dollars reportedly went missing from Louisiana Government School’s accounts, the question now is whether anyone will be held responsible. News Five first exposed the alleged financial irregularities in June, prompting the Ministry of Education to launch an investigation and audit. With students now back in the classroom, Education Minister Francis Fonseca says the audit is complete and the ministry is reviewing its findings to determine what action should follow.

“The last briefing I got on that from the Chief Education Officer and the general manager was that it had been completed and that they were going to have meetings with a number of – the principal and a number of other people, a number, a bursar I don’t remember the exact people. I think a bursar who was there and a number of people who work in finance there. So I don’t know if they’ve had that meeting yet. But I know they’re following up on the audit to make sure that if there were any misappropriation that took place, that they would make sure that those who were involved would be held responsible.”

 

News Five has been informed that the principal of Louisiana Government School Debbie Palacio has since resigned.
