Sports Benefit as Belizeans Spent $144 Million on Boledo!
Belizeans are expected to spend more than one hundred and forty-four million dollars on Boledo this year, but only a fraction of the profits has reached local sports. After the Ministry of Sports received a two-million-dollar donation, representing just seven percent of profits, Lotteries Limited Chair Narda Garcia is pushing for a guaranteed share of the money to fund athletes and sporting programs.

“Right here I will tell you, but the Fi We Boledo for ’25, ’26 fiscal year had a revenue of $144 million. We paid back to the winners obviously more or less $100 million and we had other expenses, but we made a net profit of $27.4 million. And for next year or for this current year, we project more. So again, there is a little bit more that maybe we can give to sports. Why? To ensure that the pilot program you have now, because I’ve read about it, Minister Daly, the private – the project you have, the pilot project to take the overhead of the associations and help them with that, that’s going to go a long way.”
At the end of February, the Belize Government Lotteries Limited handed over a cheque for one million dollars to the National Sports Council with a promise to deliver another million later in the year.
