Belizean mixed martial artists Dominic Beaino and Jalen Perez have won gold at the 2026 GAMMA Pan American Championships in Chía, Colombia, with Beaino taking the 170-pound title and Perez winning the 145-pound division.

Belizean mixed martial artist Dominic Beaino has won gold at the 2026 GAMMA Pan American Championships in Chía, Colombia, going 3-0 to become the 170-pound Pan American champion.

Head coach Silvino Riverol said Beaino recorded three quick finishes during the tournament, including what he described as the fastest finish of the competition.

Riverol said he was proud of the six fighters who competed, with the team returning from the championships with two gold medals.

The second gold medal went to Jalen Perez, who also went 3-0 to win the 145-pound division, according to Riverol.

After the competition, Riverol said the fighters had to contend with the high elevation in Chía, as well as the climate and the crowd. He said Perez won his first fight by stoppage and the other two by decision.

Riverol praised the entire team for giving their best throughout the tournament and said Belize’s fighters showed the Belizean warrior spirit.

He also said the team plans to return next year with a larger group, train harder and seek more sponsorship as they look to build on their performance in Colombia.
