Expo Belize Marketplace Marks 30 Years with Nearly 10,000 Visitors

The Expo Belize Marketplace marked its 30th anniversary over the weekend, drawing nearly 10,000 visitors to the Marion Jones Sports Complex in Belize City.

The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), which organises the annual event, said attendance surpassed last year’s figures, with crowds increasing in the late afternoon despite early-morning rains and midday heat.

BCCI also reported strong purchasing activity and increased consumer spending throughout the weekend, as businesses used the event to showcase their products and services and connect with customers.

The event’s growth has also restated the need for a fully indoor, weather-proof venue. According to BCCI, the need for such a facility remains a priority as the Expo continues to expand.

The September 12 and 13 event marked three decades of the Expo, held this year under the theme, “Expo Belize Market Place – The Original Expo: 30 Years of Connecting Business, Creating Opportunities.”

As part of the anniversary celebrations, BCCI introduced a “30 for 30” shopping challenge and hourly giveaways. Entertainment included performances by Super Furia, Supa G and Vida Magz, with the Expo House Band performing throughout the weekend.

Several businesses were also recognised for their displays at the event. Smart Belize won Overall Business Excellence and the Marketing Excellence Award, while Taste by Tess was named Most Outstanding Micro Entrepreneur. Zesty Squeeze won Most Outstanding Youth Entrepreneur, Pickle La Cochinita Pibil Tacos took Most Outstanding Food Booth, and Digi Belize won Most Innovative Excellence.
