School Bus Strike Hits Valley of Peace SDA
Classes at Valley of Peace S.D.A. Academy were affected on Monday after several teachers were unable to get to school because of transportation issues related to the ongoing school bus strike.
Chief Education Officer Yolanda Gongora says that, as far as she is aware, the teachers’ absence was not the result of a strike by teachers. She said they were unable to report to school because of transportation difficulties.
Gongora said the Ministry of Education has transportation runs for both students and teachers. She said the Ministry has also advised school principals to make adjustments when teachers are unable to reach school, including asking school management to dismiss students early if necessary.
According to Gongora, the Ministry has not received a report from Valley of Peace S.D.A. Academy about the situation, and she had not received one personally.

The Ministry had previously alerted schools and principals along affected routes and asked them to support students who may have difficulty attending classes because of transportation disruptions.
