Belize Bank Rewards Families with Dream Vacations

A simple card transaction has opened the door to unforgettable international adventures for two Belizean families. Belize Bank today presented Neri Monzon with an all-expenses-paid family trip to Orlando, while Allen Mendez walked away with a family getaway to New York. News Five’s Britney Gordon attended the ceremony and spoke with the winners as they prepared to trade home for holidays abroad.

How much can one swipe be worth? For two Belizean families, everyday spending has paid off in a big way, with dream vacations to Orlando and New York. They emerged as the winners of Belize Bank’s three-month Mastercard Priceless Experience promotion, which rewarded credit card holders with a chance to create unforgettable family memories abroad. Executive Chairman Filippo Alario presented the prizes.

“This is something that we do every year. Last year a lucky winner went to see the Champions League.  For us, giving these rewards it’s important because it’s not just money. It is an experience. And as I was saying before, I can’t remember where I spent money last week, but I do remember a vacation with my children twenty-five years ago.”

 

Spending one thousand dollars gave cardholders a shot at two dream vacations: Orlando or New York. Riversdale fisherman Neri Monzon won the trip to Orlando, including Disney World Parks, and is looking forward to an unforgettable family adventure.

“Last year we was in Miami for Christmas and New Years. And couple years ago my kids was asking me, are we going this year? I say, nope, I don’t think so. And then couple days ago, I receive a call from Ms. Denise. I was working, and you know, sometimes you receive a call from people like that and you can’t trust, right? So I say, I am working right now, but I will share your number with my wife so you could speak more to her. So here we are.”

 

Even more excited for the trip are Monzon’s two daughters, twelve-year-old Briana and nine-year-old Helen Monzon. The family will experience Disney World for the first time.

“I’m really excited. I thought it was AI. I wasn’t sure that it was real because my mom was teasing me about that so I wasn’t sure about it but then after when I was sure when it was confirmed and I was really happy about it.”

Allen Mendez has never visited the United States, but that is about to change. He won a family vacation to New York and says the news left him in disbelief. Belize Bank says its reward programs offer customers added value while strengthening its relationship with cardholders.

“Ms. Godfrey called me, and she said her name is Ms. Godfrey, and she’s calling from Belize Bank. I’m like, oh, God, a Belize Bank call. So I was already thinking like I did something wrong.  So I said, okay.  But I work at Social Security, so I’m like, customer. So I said, okay, how may I help you? They say, I’m calling with good news. Right? I tell her, okay, that’s great. They say, you know you’re the winner of the trip to New York. I tell her, really? There was a trip to New York? They said, they say, yeah. I tell her, oh, wow, that’s amazing. I tell her, you’re not kidding, right?”

 

Alario says the promotion has been well received, noting that the bank’s credit card remains one of its most popular products with travel rewards and American Airlines miles as key attractions for cardholders. Britney Gordon for News Five.
