Richie Galvez Calls for Careful Harassment Investigation

Belmopan mayoral hopeful Isidoro “Richie” Galvez is weighing in on sexual harassment allegations at the City Hall he hopes to lead. Council employee Efrain Novelo faced an internal investigation but denied the allegations, claiming the complaints were retaliation for disciplinary measures he helped carry out within the Traffic Department. Galvez says the allegations are serious and must be handled with care.

“Any sexual harassment is a serious matter. Also, I don’t want to gain any political mileage with this situation. However, we must always protect our employees, not just at the Belmopan City Council, but at any worksite around this country. And I do agree with the media houses, that our Mayor of Belmopan should not be running away from you guys when it comes to questions regarding this situation.”
