Belizean Business Leaders Hope to Connect With Taiwan Investors

Belize and Taiwan are moving their relationship beyond diplomacy and into the world of business. The Lamanai Hall at the Fort George Hotel was packed today as Taiwanese executives met with Belizean entrepreneurs and investors to explore opportunities in trade, investment and joint ventures. From green energy and artificial intelligence to agriculture, healthcare and tourism, companies on both sides are looking for partnerships that could open new markets and spur economic growth. At the Taiwan-Belize Business Exchange, BELTRAIDE Executive Director Ishmael Quiroz, BCCI Vice President Marcello Blake and CIECA Vice Chairman Mike Ching Chung Hung outlined what both countries hope to gain from the discussions.

“We have Taiwanese companies represented from across renewable energy and energy storage, AI and digital technology, advanced manufacturing, agriculture and biotechnology, healthcare and education, tourism and international development, as well as finance and trade. On the Belizean side, we have businesses and institutions operating across many of these same areas. This is therefore not simply a networking event. It is a meeting between Taiwanese capability and Belizean opportunity.”

“Some of the key things coming out of, um, these opportunities, of course, market access both ways. We discussed, I think last evening, the opportunities because of where Belize is placed, that we are, in fact, geographically placed and set to allow for the Taiwan investments to go not only just into Belize but beyond our borders into the region, technical cooperation, of course, going both ways as well, to be able for us to learn from them and them to learn from us. Investments, and then of course, the focus on business growth, which is really why we’re here for the B2B sessions today.”
