Unauthorized Access Forces Vital Stats Offline

The Civil Registry Department and Vital Statistics Unit (VSU) have temporarily taken its Civil Registry and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system offline after detecting unauthorised access during routine maintenance.

The Civil Registry department says the shutdown is a security measure to allow technical teams to carry out a detailed assessment of the system.

According to the VSU, technical teams will assess the CRVS system over the weekend, with restoration expected on Monday, October 5, 2026, pending the completion of security checks.

In the meantime, services that require access to the CRVS system are temporarily unavailable. Members of the public can still visit the VSU main office in Belize City or district offices for information and guidance regarding their requests.

The Civil Registry department says further updates will be provided as verified information becomes available.
