Orange Walk’s Cosme Duran Turns 108

Orange Walk Town resident Cosme Duran has celebrated his 108th birthday.

Duran was born on September 27, 1918, in Progreso, Corozal District, and grew up in the village before eventually moving to Orange Walk Town.

He worked as a chiclero during his younger years and has spent much of his later life in Orange Walk.

When Duran celebrated his 105th birthday in 2023, his family said he was still able to walk and speak, although he had lost sight in one eye.

His family also said one of his favourite pastimes was visiting Central Park, where he enjoyed sitting and taking in the surroundings.

Now, three years later, Duran has reached another milestone, marking 108 years of life.

He is the father of 7 children.
