Julius Espat: PM Briceño was “Emotional” and “Informed Erroneously”
Julius Espat says Prime Minister John Briceño was misinformed when he grew agitated on a morning show in September over comments attributed to Espat about social justice.
“He’s the boss. He was emotional. And he reacted to something that was informed to him erroneously,” Espat told News 5.
Espat, the Minister of Infrastructure Development and interim Minister of Home Affairs, said his interview had nothing to do with what Briceño reacted to.
“I spoke to him afterwards. And I showed him the evidence that what I said was nothing like that. And he accepted it. And we move on.”
Espat gave a measured answer when he was pointedly asked whether the Briceño Cabinet is in good terms. He said, “As much as it can be.”
He argued that disagreement inside Cabinet is healthy. “You always have to have issues, and differences, and opinions, so that you can come up with good decisions. If it’s a kumbaya, then it won’t work,” he said. “Then everybody starts believing that everything is great. And that’s not reality. So we’re good.”
