Midtown Robbers Escape with Gun, Documents
A Friday robbery at Midtown Restaurant in Belize City may have been about more than money. Police say three armed men pulled up in an SUV, overpowered the security guard and stole his licensed nine-millimetre pistol. One of the robbers then entered the restaurant and grabbed a bag containing documents, but apparently took nothing else. Investigators have since recovered the getaway vehicle, but neither the stolen firearm nor the documents has been found. Police are searching for three suspects and say it is still too early to determine whether the men had inside information or specifically targeted the documents.
