PUP Launches Municipal Campaign on 76th Anniversary
With eight of nine mayoral seats already under its control, the People’s United Party is heading into the 2027 municipal race as the team to beat. On Saturday, the PUP used its anniversary celebration at Memorial Park to officially introduce its nine mayoral candidates, each promising to defend the party’s stronghold at City Hall and in towns across the country. The candidates rallied supporters, backed one another and projected confidence as the party prepares to protect sixty-one of the sixty-seven municipal seats it currently holds. But with the United Democratic Party also using its anniversary to launch its campaign, the battle for Belize’s municipalities is already taking shape.

“ To our mayors, councilors and municipal candidates from across the country, we may represent different communities but we carry one responsibility: to prove that wherever PUP leads, our people progress. I’ll say that again, to prove that wherever PUP leads, our people progress So my hope is that we leave this NPC laser-focused on that work. Let us carry forward the pride of seventy-six years, the momentum of 2018, 2020, 2024 and 2025 and the responsibility of the next chapter. Let us show Belize once again that our party knows how to bring good people together and deliver for them. From our villages and towns to Belmopan and Belize City, are we ready? Let me hear you. Are we ready? Are we ready to work? Are we ready to serve? Are we ready to win in March of 2027? Let me hear you.”
