Internal Disagreements Won’t Derail PUP, Says Briceño

Prime Minister John Briceño is putting speculation about his political future to rest. Confident that he and the People’s United Party still command the support of Belizeans, Briceño says he has no intention of stepping aside and plans to lead the blue machine into the 2030 general election. He is also dismissing concerns about cracks within the party, insisting that occasional disagreements have not weakened the PUP’s unity.

Prime Minister John Briceño

“ I was elected since 1993, and we continue to put our work into this party and into this country. And in 2018, we won our first election under my leadership. On 2020, we won a historic victory for the People’s United Party and this country. And we won in ’21, we won in ’24, and we won in ’25. And we are going to win in ’27 for the People’s United Party and for our people and I want to tell you, ladies and gentlemen, members and delegates of this great party, I want to solemnly promise to you that if you want me to continue to lead, I will lead the People’s United Party into 2030 for another victory. Are you ready??”
