Two Face Kidnapping Charges After Police Interception
Police formally arrested and charged twenty-eight-year-old Alex Marcus Lewis, a laborer, and forty-year-old Brian Dena, a construction worker, on Monday, October fifth. Both men face one count of kidnapping and one count of threat of death in connection with an incident two days earlier in the Corozal District. The charges follow an alleged abduction that police ended on Saturday, October third. Officers intercepted a red pickup truck in the San Andres area after receiving information that two men had been forcibly taken. Inside the vehicle, police found four people, including Ricardo Zetina and Walter Pineda. The two men told investigators that they had been forced into the pickup and questioned about stolen items. According to ACP Hilberto Romero, Head of the National Crimes Investigation Branch, the two suspects allegedly accused Zetina and Pineda of buying property stolen from people in the area. Police say the suspects also took the men to the home of one victim’s brother and questioned him before officers intervened. Investigators have not publicly disclosed the specific circumstances surrounding the alleged death threat. The accusations against Lewis and Dena have not been proven in court.
