National Bus Company Promises On-Time Service

For many Belizeans, catching the bus often comes with a familiar question: Will it arrive on time? The National Bus Company says it’s ready to change that. Beginning November first, passengers traveling the Western and Southern corridors can expect a more organized and predictable commute, thanks to a new route schedule, digital bus tracking and assigned seating. The changes are designed to take the guesswork out of public transportation and give commuters greater confidence in planning their day. As the rollout approaches, the company says reliability and convenience are at the heart of its latest overhaul.

“This is what our ticket agents would be seeing When you put the WhatsApp number and you text the WhatsApp number and you purchase your ticket, automatically when the agent is selling, this would be updated to show remaining tickets. Seats. This… Yeah, I mean, remaining seats. And that automatically helps us with ensuring that every single person that rides on NBC has a guaranteed seat. That eliminates the whole process of what was back then with people rushing or, or people trying to get on the bus outside of the terminals. All of that is eliminated through one simple program that we’ve implemented Um, this would be what you receive on your phone, which is, um, the tickets. And as, as you can see, it’s just a QR code. So all of us have phones, so when you scan it, it automatically tells you your route, where you’re starting from, where you’re going to, your price, and even includes your bus. Because as we had mentioned earlier, we’re using Truck Solutions, and the beauty of that is their API can communicate to these as well. So then it tells you exactly when your bus is five minutes away. It’s gonna notify you through your phone number your bus is arriving. If it’s delayed, you also get informed that it’s delayed. Your bus has been delayed.”
