A Belizean delegation led by the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE) is in Barbados this week to promote investment opportunities in Belize, including in the cacao sector, at the Caribbean Investment Forum (CIF).

The delegation is supported by the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) PROSPER project. The forum is being held under the theme “Invest. Innovate. Accelerate.”

The Caribbean Export Development Agency is coordinating the forum in partnership with the European Union. It brings together investors, businesses, development institutions and international partners to explore investment and economic growth opportunities across the Caribbean.

PROSPER stands for Participation, Ownership and Sustainable Progress for Economic Resilience. It is a four-year initiative funded by the European Union and implemented by the ILO in partnership with the Government of Belize. It supports local economic development in the Toledo and Stann Creek Districts through entrepreneurship, skills development and stronger value chains. It pays particular attention to rural and Indigenous communities, women and youth. Its priority sectors are sustainable tourism and cacao agroforestry.

Belize’s delegation is meeting with participants to promote national investment opportunities, explore partnerships and identify support for sustainable enterprise development. BELTRAIDE says participation through PROSPER ties these efforts to expanding economic opportunities in southern Belize.

BELTRAIDE is also promoting the Belize Investment Summit 2027 and encouraging investors and regional and international partners to explore Belize’s investment potential.
