Michel Chebat now works hand in hand with the man who leads the police force, Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado, and the two are no strangers to each other. Outside of their professional roles, Rosado has been seen attending Chebat’s swearing-in ceremonies at Government House, including before Chebat became the minister responsible for police. So we asked the Prime Minister: are they too close for comfort? Here is how he answered.

“I don’t see how that could affect it. I think it would make it better if the minister and the commissioner of police, along with the CEO, have a good working relation, I think a lot more can be done. And that is what I  expect. I expect nothing less from them. I expect all of them to be able to literally roll up their sleeves and get the job done. That is a very important ministry and Belizeans are, as always, concerned about security in this country, not only in our country, but along our borders. So, I believe that it will end up being a good relationship between all of them.”
