Tropical Niceness Brings a Fresh Twist to Belizean Favorites
Turning Tropical Fruits into Delicious Snacks
Today’s episode of Open Your Eyes featured Tropical Niceness, a brand under Snackables that transforms tropical fruits and other ingredients into convenient snack options. Joining the conversation were Wilbur Dubon and Alicia Davis, owners of Tropical Niceness, alongside Damion Davis, Sales Executive and owner, who shared the inspiration behind the brand and its growing range of products.
The team explained that Tropical Niceness focuses on creating snacks using natural ingredients, without preservatives, artificial food coloring, or additives. The brand officially launched in September after more than two years of developing and testing its products with family and friends.
A New Take on a Familiar Favorite
The brand’s current offerings include frozen pops in two categories: creamy, dairy-based smoothie pops and fruit-based options for a refreshing treat. The products feature a variety of flavors, including peanut, oats and raisin; peanut and banana; cookies and cocoa; and mango and pineapple chamoy.
The idea grew out of the team’s experience with seaweed and their interest in developing value-added products. Through experimentation, they expanded beyond seaweed to explore other ingredients and create convenient snacks that consumers can enjoy without having to prepare them at home.
Introducing Healthier Snack Options
The guests discussed the importance of educating consumers about the ingredients and potential nutritional value of their products. Depending on the flavor, the pops can offer nutrients such as vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants from ingredients including fruit, oats, peanuts, and cacao.
The team also highlighted the potential for the products to serve as convenient snack options for children and busy families. They are exploring ways to make the pops more affordable for schoolchildren, with a target price of around $1.50 as they work on a reformulation.
Expanding Across Belize
Tropical Niceness is gradually expanding its distribution, with products available at locations including Brodies, Puma, Quality Poultry, Sagas, and Rhyas in Spanish Lookout. The team explained that they work with local fruit vendors and prepare ingredients by hand, emphasizing the natural fruit flavors in their products.
With a growing range of flavors and plans to reach more consumers, Tropical Niceness is working to make its frozen snacks accessible while offering an alternative to traditional artificially flavored treats.
The conversation highlighted the creativity behind the Belizean brand and its efforts to bring tropical ingredients, convenience, and flavor together in a fresh way.
