Wagner Predicts Fourth Straight City Hall Victory

The campaign season may not be in full swing yet, but Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner is already looking ahead to March 2027. Wagner says the P.U.P. is well-positioned to win a fourth straight term at City Hall, pointing to what he describes as nine years of steady progress under the party’s leadership. He says voters will have the final say, but he is confident the party’s record will carry the day.

“When I look at the two teams, I never, as a politician or as a mayor, never write off any opponent. We always look at the opponent as a viable opponent. UDP has been around for many years. Actually, they won the city council for many years, fifteen years. The PUP came in after that. We have won three terms in a row. And I expect that with the hard work of our team, with the record of the past nine years we have put in the city, we have done tremendous work across the city. We have paved three hundred streets in the city. People don’t talk about it. We have brought back that financial prudence into the city. We have never one day ran into issue with our staff salaries, any issue, maybe hiccups with waste control, our garbage picked up. We have done various social infrastructure work. We have transformation the public transportation in the city, the e-bus. We have built out the ecosystem in terms of taxes. We have been behind youth and women. Our shadow council, our child advisory body, the many programs that we have during the summer, clearly is an indication that this council and city are moving forward.”
