Wait, There’s a Vegetable Season? The Ministry Just Closed One and Opened Another
The Ministry of Agriculture held its annual National Vegetable Stakeholders Meeting to mark the end of the 2025/2026 vegetable season and the start of 2026/2027.
The Ministry says the meeting gave farmers and other stakeholders a chance to review the past season, discuss the challenges they faced and identify ways to improve vegetable production and marketing. The release does not say what those challenges were.
The Ministry is urging all vegetable farmers to work closely with its extension officers and to follow the planting calendar. It says sticking to the calendar helps match production to market demand, lowers the risk of oversupply and keeps a steady supply of fresh vegetables on the market.
The Ministry says it will continue to support farmers with extension services, technical guidance and marketing support. It says the goal is for local production to respond to market demand and for vegetables to be available to consumers at reasonable prices.
