Water Taxi Company Takes Town Council to Court

A legal battle is brewing in San Pedro. Caribbean Sprinter Limited, a water taxi company, is challenging a decision by the town council, led by Mayor Wally Nunez, and the Trade Licensing Board that would force all water taxis to move out of the town core by the end of this year. The company says the move is unfair and illegal. They claim they weren’t consulted, had a valid license, and invested heavily in their current location on the Eastern Foreshore. The sudden relocation, they argue, could lead to major financial losses. The High Court agrees there’s something worth looking into and has granted Caribbean Sprinter permission to take the matter to judicial review. The court will now decide whether the San Pedro Town Council and the Trade Licensing Board acted within their legal powers, or if they overstepped.
