Man Drowns Near English Caye

A weekend dive turned tragic near English Caye. Josimar Toledano, who worked as a cook on the island, was out in the water with a friend when things took a deadly turn. His companion noticed him floating motionless and tried to revive him, but it was too late. Toledano was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police say no foul play is suspected, but an investigation is underway as they await the results of a post-mortem.

“On Saturday, Aaron Reymundo reported that he was diving in the area of English Caye, along with one Josimar Toledano, when he saw Toledano motionless in the water. He took him out and performed CPR but was unsuccessful. Police responded and the body of Josimar Toledano was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. We are awaiting a post mortem examination to determine his cause of death.”

“Yes, he was employed as a cook on the island.”
