Randy August Injured in Lake Independence Shooting

Tonight, a Belize City family is counting their blessings after surviving a terrifying ordeal that could have ended in tragedy. Just after ten on Monday night, thirty-three-year-old Randy August, his girlfriend, and their children were relaxing at home in the Lake Independence area when gunfire shattered their peace. A gunman entered their yard and unleashed a hail of bullets, targeting the family. Miraculously, August’s girlfriend and their children escaped unharmed. August, however, was hit three times. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and is now in stable condition. News Five spoke with August’s girlfriend, who shared the chilling details of that night and how close they came to losing everything.

“Last night when I comeback from buy, I mek a lee tea, and da so I feed ney. The babies ney then I get the sense when I hear my [uppy out there di bark, But I she that sound strange so I gone outside and I gone check pan my puppy. I see somebody inna wa black hoodie with wa blue jeans pants with wa thing pan ih face. And all I get the sense the person walk out deh pan the pallet deh and point the gun pan we and all I hear da pow pow pow. Now I deh inn awa shock so I just run inna the corner by deh weh the babies ney mi deh. And I get the sense he run wa soh and run bout out yah so. If you could see the blood deh pan the ground deh. He just jump through the back and just gone. And I shock so immediately, First I do da just call the police and so ney come and tek picture of the crimes and whatsoever. I just deh inna wa shock, that’s all.”
