Darlon Usher Is the New KTV The Remix Champion
After weeks of powerful performances and vocal battles, Darlon Usher emerged as the winner of Season 7 of KTV the Remix on Tuesday night.
The yearly singing competition saw 12 participants take the stage this season, each showcasing their talent before a massive audience at home and abroad.
The season ended with a tight race among the final three, with Usher taking first place, Maureen Budram earning second, and Samuel Carcamo securing third.
“My heart was all over the place. The only thing I can say is that I’m grateful,” Usher said after his win. “I have hesitated for a long time to step into the artistic realm that I can do, so I really plan to step out in that way and see what that has in store for me. I’ve done a lot of live production, and I’m definitely planning to do some more of that, live shows and in the studio.”
“A show like KTV is critical for any artistic development, simply because it pushes each individual to move outside of their genre very often in front of a very big audience,” said KTV the Remix’s host, William Neal. “So, you’re not doing it in the comfort of your home; you’re experimenting with it on a national platform.”
He praised the competition’s impact on young performers, saying, “I think KTV is critical also because it shows them what they’re capable of. We face our fears, and that’s how we grow, and I think it’s important as an artist that you accept this challenge and you really try your best to do something amazing.”
Usher also had words of encouragement for aspiring artists, stating, “Work on your craft, day in and day out… I was supposed to join this show like 6 or 7 years ago, but I chose to wait because I felt like I needed to mature in certain aspects of myself, whether it be my voice, networking with more people, or growing my brand as a person. It’s never a bad thing to grow and learn.”
